First time out on my 'Home' creek. air temp 62F, water temp 39F, mix of sun & cloud, a little wind.
spent two hours working my way down from London tract rd to just below the danger dam.
started in the riffles and heads of the pools with a bronze kryllex streamer, no luck then tried the BH green weenies, and after losing two to trees had a sit down and a think.
the stockies weren't responding to attractors and the water was very cold, so i switched to an #18 olive PT and fished the undercuts & deep pools, same as i'd fished VC mid winter....
I finished with 3 10-11" bows landed, one lost at the net, one LR all on the olive PT.
pretty creek, mostly too wide and shallow. I saw two other FF heading up to Good Hope Rd and two kids on their way down from the bridge with light tackle when i was finishing, otherwise i had the creek to myself on a warm saturday afternoon.
some Photos :
cookie cutter trout :
a weird thing i found deep in the woods, farm plough or man trap ?
an old sign from the days when the preserve was Dupont land :
a nice couple of hours fishing with no 3 hours of driving.
