Fished above and below the dam on the DHALO project on the Middle Br WCCr. Air Temp 40-50F, very overcast, light rain. Water Temp 45F, running somewhat high but clear. Caught five browns and rainbows from 10 to 12 inches on brass beadhead hares ear soft hackle #14 and tungsten BH olive soft hackle #12. A couple of fish were rising steadily just above the dam. No luck with those. There were quite a few size 20 black gnats on the water, likely the fish were taking those. The bugs had a black body and pale blue wings, like the undercoverts of a mourning dove wing.

cool. i've yet to catch a brown down there.

GB. I fished it again on the 9th but at Good Hope rd. Water lower but very slightly cloudy. Caught 1 brown and 2 rAinbows. 11 to 14 inch. They were feeding on those same black gnats I mentioned and wanted the fly rising to the surface. Caught them on a snipe and purple 16 and a dave hughes little olive 16.

we walked the middle clay Thursday, we saw a lot of midges, some #22 BWO's and a bona fide cloud of caddis mating just below the big footbridge.

they had a very dark wing with brown speckles. about at #14 i think.

They love Griffiths Gnats. GB, probably me but I can never get them on a BWO hatch.
