First stream report and wish I had better news to share. Set out to West Pithole creek and was on the water by 1:30. Air temp was 70 degrees with overcast skies. Witness a smattering of bugs in the air but not a rise to be seen nor heard for a good mile and half wade upstream. Convinced that whatever trouts might be in the stream were prejudiced against Ohioans, I packed up and set my sights on Oil creek near the welcome center. Rises and sharp splashes were all around but alas I had packed only my 4wt fiberglass and got smacked in the face with a size 18 light Cahill for my troubles. Yet still...I had the feeling of accomplishment from discovering new waters and came withaway with the knowledge that the 5wt needs to accompany me on my next adventure.
