visited the FFO section a couple of days ago. Saw a couple of huge rainbows occupying the best pools, one had to be pushin 24". Couldn't hook up with any fish though. Water was temping around 60 and very small dark midges hatching. Saw two interesting things. first; some species of chub or dace or something kept leaping entirely out of the water the entire time I was there. Never saw anything like it before. I wondered if maybe they were attempting to avoid being eaten? Also, a small grey squirrel leapt from the branches on one side of the stream to a rotten branch on the opposite side of the stream. "CRACK" The branch and squirrel both plummetted into the stream! As the squirrel paddled towards shore my eyes shifted to the huge rainbow whom I am sure could have devoured it. The trout tipped upward as if to strike, then change his mind and sank back into place. This all happened within 4' of me. I think I need to tye some bigger flys!!
