Don't discredit the "nymph bug"... those hill jacks as you call them knew what they were talking about 😉
If you saw me a couple weeks ago, you'd have thought I was a hill jacker. I thought it'd be a good idea to wet wade above deposit since it was forecast to be in the mid 90's. As a despiration attempt at some fish before I walked all the way back for my waders, I removed my sleeveless shirt and pack and waded up to my chest in 45 degree water.
