We floated the WB from the NY water (Barking Dog) to Balls Eddy two days and on Tuesday we decided to just float Norbord to Barking dog. About 1.4 river miles. The river was crowded for a Tuesday and at one time there were twelve drift boats in the conga line on river right in Norbord, We were at the very top and since no one was moving, and it is such a short float, we stayed anchored in one spot for four boring hours. Finally a guy left way down in the line and I raced down there and slipped in between two boats. In an hour we put five good fish in the boat and that was it for the day. We rowed out at 5:15.
Wednesday was worse then Tuesday because there were less tan and Apple caddis and since they are only on the surface for a few milliseconds we had very few fish rising more than once. To make matters tougher the water was lower and super clear. We used 6X all day and even then when I gently lowered the anchor the trout either stopped rising for ten minutes or they kept rising but dropped back another 25 feet down river. We finally landed one 17" and one 19" brown on a Red Quill emerger. We rowed out at 7:00. I won't be going back until the water is at least 800 cfs.
