I floated the WB from Barking Dog to Balls Eddy both days. We fished from 11:30 to 8:30. Wednesday very spotty caddis during the day but then an epic Red Quill (Rusty Spinner #14) fall from 6:30 to 8:30. Then on Friday we had huge numbers of Apple caddis on the upper river from BD to Hale Eddy. Down river of Hale Eddy fewer Apple caddis but lots of #16 tan caddis. Very few spinners last night even though conditions were similar. Water temp never got higher than 49 degrees.
We put a good number of fish in the boat each day. If you didn't have some sort of water craft you weren't fishing. High water and no wading. Nothing larger than 19". Lots of boat traffic. Many drift boats, single man pontoon boats, and 2 - 3 seat rubber rafts. At one time I could see 12 boats. Not for anyone seeking a private commune with nature.
