Had a fun two days on the upper D the past two weekends. Last saturday the water was terribly low on the west, but the bigger problem was the wind. Should of checked the forecast more closely.
Regardless- landed 3 for 5. All 3 rainbows. Awesome little fighters and just dime bright.
This past saturday floated shehawkin to buckingham. Saw a total of 2 anglers the entire way. Parked the boat below one of the islands and didn't expect much. Until I had a 20"+ INSANE rainbow on the line. It rolled as I lifted showing how massive it was...and took off. Peeling line like crazy. I fought it for a good 4-5 minutes until i let it get directly below me and it shook the hook. It still haunts me every hour since. Would of been my largest upper D fish thus far.
Landed another good rainbow in that riffle, and then a medium brown before buckingham. Had one take on an adams in the frog water but didnt connect.
All in all - a good two days. And may brave the cold Saturday and be back at it. Its such a different place in the fall.
