Vermont - Green Mountain National Forest - 6/11/16 - 6/18/16

Sample of Streams Fished: Mettawee, Battenkill, Tweed, White, Deerfield, New Haven, and Middlebury Rivers. Many headwaters streams (Lye Brook, Big Branch, plus others). A boat-load of beaver ponds.

Weather: Cool (40s-60s), Windy, Rainy for the first few days, then blue skies and 80s the rest of the week.

Water Temps - High 50's / Low 60's

In a previous thread, I had mentioned that I had lost my camera, and that it had a lot of pics from a trip I had recently taken to Vermont with my dad. Well, I actually found the camera (in the place I had already checked three times), so I figured I'd do a quick report and share some photos from the trip.

As mentioned in the previous “Vermont” thread, our best luck was in the smaller streams and beaver ponds. We did catch some in the more "famous" waters (Battenkill, Mettawee, White, etc), but they couldn't compare with the smaller waters. Had a blast searching out beaver ponds on the map and hiking in to find them. Maybe I would be singing a different tune if the black flies had shown up in any significant number!

Overall it was a great trip with a lot of fish brought to hand. The hurricane damage from a decade ago is still fresh on a lot of streams, and many are still healing. It’s a beautiful part of the country that holds some great little streams.

Yeah, super crowded. During the week we actually saw one other person fishing near a pull-off. We also saw a car parked near a stream one day and I think they MIGHT have been fishing too. :-D

Awesome stuff, Klingy. I spent a week in Vermont last summer. Didn't cover as much as you did (we really focused on the Mettawee since it was very close to us, there was so much water, and we were able to fish different stretches and tribs every single day), but I loved every second of it!
