Just moved to the area from NC to finish grad school at University of Delaware, sorry for adding another fisherman to your already "crowded" SE PA waters 🙂
Went to Valley for the first time, fished the upper section hoping for less pressured fish. Water was clear and I assume low looking at the gauges (didn't take a stream temp).
Didn't see any hatches or rises from 6:45am till noon. Targeted the pools with a 20 baetis nymph, and used a 16 elk hair caddis for an indicator. Brought 6 to hand on the caddis, go figure, nothing on the nymph. Switched to an 18 ant later in the day and quick released a few more. Very beautiful fish in this stream.
Had a blast, thoroughly enjoying lurking on "y'all's" message board.

Go Blue Hens and watch out for Deer Park..

mp - welcome. WTG on a pretty tough stream. What are you studying?

NC's Smokies is where I learned to trout. I remember those wonderful streams fondly.

Thanks for the welcome.
Lestrout: I am finishing up (hopefully) my Master's in Energy and Environmental Policy, specifically with a focus on the intersections of water and energy policy.
Trout are actually relatively new to me, I've lived in coastal NC for the last 10 or so years, so I am more familiar with red drum, speckled trout and bluefish. Can't wait to explore more of the wild trout streams though.
Pete: I'm getting too old to hang with most of the kids on Main Street. Deer Park until about 10pm or so is just my speed.

Mps great catches on pressured stream with fish that have seen almost everything. Lots of great fishing around here. Always up for fishing if your interested

I too did my grad work at UD, historic preservation. Went to Valley this morning and didn't land a thing. Saw lots of fish that I spooked though so I know where to look next time. Made me realize how out of practice I am as far as stealth, presentation and the more technical aspects that it seems to take on a stream like Valley. Ran into a couple of guys on my way out that gave me some good advice, always nice to get a few tips from the regulars. Nice fish mp, those pics make me wanna go back there until I can land a few.
