Fished Valley yesterday evening from 6-8:15. This was my first time fishing this creek and it is everything it's cracked up to be, very lovely. I parked near the white covered bridge and fished both down and upstream.

Hatches: I saw some sulphurs coming off after 7 pm, but not a lot of them. Grey caddis later in the evening as well.

I caught two browns (my first two wild browns!), both small. The first was on a BHPT fished in a riffle. Tried fishing a sulphur dry to some rising fish with no luck. Then walked back upstream and found a different hole with five or six risers. Again no luck with the sulphur, but I noticed some caddis around, grey, size 16. Tied on the appropriate fly and caught one right away. Would have liked to stay a bit longer, but had to head home.

was that you I talked to yesterday when you were getting out of the car, young guy, minivan? Glad to hear you did well, especially if its your first time out on valley, I was not that successful on my first trip!

Nope, I was in a Philly Carshare Prius. But thanks for the encouragement. I was pleasantly surprised to catch anything at all after hearing so much about the difficulty of the stream.
