valley creek, chester county 4/11/10

My friend and i got to the metal bridge around 630. we started upstream of the bridge and each caught a couple trees. we worked our way up but didnt even make it to the overpass before it got dark. at first things seemed slow but right before dark the run we were fishing came alive and trout started jumping and splashing and they wanted pretty much any dry fly we lost a few each on caddis and i ended up with three fish the biggest was 12.5 inches and they got smaller each time with a 6" and a fun sized(4"-5"). all three took a foam ant. My friend ended up with one fish around 5" or 6" on a caddis pattern. i have a pic of the 12.5" fish which was the only one i layed down with my rod to check the length. This was definitly my biggest fish from valley in the three years ive been fishing here. ill upload the pic when i get done work in a few hours. all fish were caught on dries.

It's a little blurry but it was a phone pic but at least you can get the idea. And btw it definitly seemed alot bigger at the time until i got home and measured the rod to find out it barely broke a foot.

Thats a great fish. I had a similar experience the other day with the fish exploding out of nowhere. One came clear out of the water about 4 feet from me.

That's a large fish by VC standards. Pat yourself on the back! (but don't strain your elbow...)

Nice Fish! A legit 12"er is 15"es in most anglers eyes, but the tape don't lie. The fish in that stream act like drunks and loose all inhibitions when those caddis start popping.

Thanks guys, that fish really made my trip and I'm sure will inspire alot more trips. Next up I'm goin for the real 15"er
