Clearing but stained in the deep holes

Fished Valley on Thursday with a streamer for a couple stolen hours. The USGS chart was just too sexy to ignore. I moved a bunch of little guys with a big bugger, probably 3 inches, size 4 hook, added split shot to get it down deep quickly. I landed two in the 12 to 13 inch range and then quit early after I landed my Valley Creek personal best runner-up, the VC-PBR-U? Did not tape and no measure net this time, but he was a great fish of at least 18 inches and thick (at least around the head and shoulders). Couple mediocre pics of the same fish below. Another blurry pic in the interest of a quick release to add to my collection.....

That’s a really nice fish, I fish valley a lot and have only found a few fish like this, great work!!

Disagree, closer to 18 than 16 for sure. He's keeping the fish in the water which makes for a tough picture. Nice fish.

Great fish!!! The size of the mouth on a fish like that always impresses me. Those alpha browns are supreme predators for their environments. May I ask you to describe the take? I have been experimenting with streamer retrieves this year, and I would like to know what worked for you here. For the brown in my Falling spring report, it was a long 40 foot cast to an undercut, with a 4 count dead drift. I felt the weight immediately on the first strip, suggesting it was on the drift. Great job again! Timing and water color is all the difference in world on heavily fished areas.

Sick fish, especially out of valley! I was looking through some of your posts and it appears you caught this same fish based off the spot pattern a couple months before. Catch and release is truly amazing. I caught a 21 inch wild out of valley that’s been caught(that I know of) almost ten times, and appears to be just as healthy from when I first know of it being caught, to the last time I know of it being caught.
 
That's one of the very best I've seen come from Valley! Congrats on a great one.

I'm going to start using a bigger WB with some extra weight in some of the deeper plunge pools on some of my native streams. They don't seem to want to come from the depths to hit a dry. I know that's where the bigger one's are.

Wow, I guess this post lives again! I had not noticed but that is cool if true! I took a Valley break to avoid the crowds when everyone was working from home and then Ida effed things up a bit too. I even ran into kids on school days down there filming for YouTube. I was also on a first-name basis with some of those fish 😉 To your point, though, I have had similar experiences with catching big trout multiple times on other pressured SEPA and NEPA. I bet my best on Valley was only 15 inches this year, but it was way upstream of the Park and Chesterbrook, so a trophy in its own right, I guess... Welcome to the forum, too!
