I fished the area affected by the spill for the first time since early April. I have been leaving it alone on purpose, but I wanted to take a look this fall for positive signs like redds and maybe fish a few high percentage holes to see how the creek was doing. It didn't take long to turn into a fishing trip and not just recon, as a sparse olive hatch had fish looking to eat. I only had two hours to fish, from 1 to 3 PM, but I landed about 10 fish in different year classes. I also saw two redds (which I left alone) and spooked from the bank a couple fish that were shallow in what looked like suitable spawning spots. I started at Bradford, so I don't know if things get worse closer to Lil' Val, but the main creek seemed okay here, maybe short on the ravenous YOY that were here in the early spring. A couple Valley-good fish in the mix too, all colored up and ready to meet mates.
