Valley Creek, Chester County 10.2.16

Fished Valley this afternoon. Cool water (did not take temp). Cloudy with air temp in the mid 60's. Water was up from recent levels and clear.

Small bugs around. Looked like pale midges.

Fishing coming to the surface. Missed a few and landed one about 8".

Another dud of a storm. Glad you saw some positive effects, even if they didn't last long. I was hoping for a lot more rain! I almost went out this AM until I saw that the flow and turbidity were back to (below) normal.

I fished Valley today. Water was low and clear as usual. Took a water temperature of 61 at noon. I only managed to hook four very small browns on beadhead midge patterns. The combination of clear water and bright sun made fishing quite difficult. I didn't see any insect activity.

Went back to Valley this afternoon/evening. Water the same, clear and cold. Air about 72 with no clouds.

Fished in the park from the stone bridge up a bit and then down. Picked up 5 to hand and missed a few others. Biggest one was about 10" which is the biggest I've landed since early spring. Fish were active on the surface.

I got out midday on Monday 10/17 (stolen 90 minutes) and had a few little guys on midges and the rare (?) green sunfish. Air was 80, water still around 60, sunny. Leaf hatch is beginning in earnest.

I did catch one decent one of 11 inches or so on an olive streamer fished upstream. I watched him chase a chub (on my line) so I gave him some meat on the next cast...
