Fished from the white ironbridge up for about 3 hours this morning. Snow banks were deep, sky was overcast, air temperature was about 26 when i got there. I didnt have a thermometer but if i had to gues i would say low 40s. There were black midges hatching in good numbers all over the banks. Probobly about size 20s to 22s. No fish were rising or taking emergers that i noticed. I fished nymphs, small zebra midges, bhpt, bhhe, scuds, wd40s, midge emergers, to no avail. I had one hit that i picked up on, very subtle and slow, played him for a couple seconds then he came unbuttoned. He was maybe about 8 inches, didnt really get a great look at him. I was using alot of weight, dragging the bottom. Didnt see a single soul all morning, it was wonderful.
