After moving back to the Philly area I finally decided to get my fly rod out for a not so cold January day. I had never been to Valley Creek before. Several fish were chasing a wooly bugger. I caught this one on a red copper john. I am definitely going back.

Nice, I didnt go all the way out there in fear of the runoff. But nice fish

Nice fish!!! It was a little windy down in Hagerstown today, but overall a beautiful day. Did you see any bugs coming off?? I figure Black Stoneflies should be happening anytime now, and in some streams they probably are already coming off. How were the flows?

I didn't get there until after 2:30pm. It was my first time there but I would assume that the flow was faster than usual. Murky in some sections but clearing up closer to sunset. I didn't see any insect activity while I was there. I may go back in the morning.

Black stones will come off soon, but save yourself the confusion. Even when they're crawling all over my waders, I've never caught a fish on Valley with a stonefly nymph or dry. It may overlap with another preferred food source. I had a blast one day earlier going micro.

Went out again today for a few hours. I guess saturdays are packed with people not including all the fisherman. Didn't have much action. Managed to land a smaller sized one today on a white sulphur fly. Fish were coming to the surface after noon and there were some hatches to match.

I first fished closer to the turnpike and further upstream. Is it worth while to fish in that area? Also is it worthwhile to fish downstream of the covered bridge? Thanks in advance for any info.

So jealous, I was in work all day. But I personally like the whole couple of miles to be honest. But you will notice there will be people out in certain areas more then others. But being in the winter the majority of the fish are in the deeper pools. Think small on flies, im fishing from sz18-sz26. Not that i havent caught a few on a few attractor dries on warmer days.

I have fished up beyond the TP bridge almost to the Gazebo. Fishing depends on the foot traffic.
