Valley Creek / Chester Co / 5.7.19

Fished Valley in the park from 430P - 730P. LOTS of bugs. BWO's, caddis and I think a few sulfurs. Small and large. Zero activity until about 645P. Was heading back to the car and started to see a few rises. Over the next 45m, landed 4 (in the range of 10-14"). All very healthy looking. 2 self releases with a fight. 6/8 misses and bumps. All in all a great 45m.

I’d be careful with fish count of valley. I’ve been chastised by many members about posting fish numbers and “burning a spot” on valley in the park, Not that it’s not very well known.

But sounds like a great day, try going micro on the nymph side.

There are no secrets about Valley. Early in the day I was using a size 26 nymph below a dry. Nothing. The fish were off until they were on.

Sounds like a nice evening. I fished yesterday late morning in the falling water, and fish were set up in the riffles readily taking nymphs. All fish on size 14 to 16 CDC jig, a dozen in a couple hours. Fish coming up once and while for caddis. I hear you on spot burning the most famous creek, perhaps second to the Tully, in SEPA for wild fish. Not going to happen. I report on Valley BECAUSE I can't blow it up, and I know a lot of guys frequent the creek.

I know there’s no secrets about valley, but some of the board members think it is. I’ve had angry pms, as well as people on this board have physically found me on the water and verbally chastised me for my reports back in the day.

mushumatt that's crazy you've had to deal with that. As great as that stream is, you'd think those antics would be reserved for a salmon run somewhere. All that drama over some mostly small-ish wild browns.
There's not a single place on that creek where I haven't run into other people fishing.

Thanks for the report, jrj! I'll be in that area this weekend, maybe I'll get some fishing in.

Exactly guys, I’ve only dealt with it on valley. So I figured I let people know before they try to help others, and then get chastised for it. I fish almost daily, but I refuse to put reports up for the streams I fish due to this. I’ll add onto reports tho.

This was a few years ago, but I know said members are still active. In that case black sz18-20 tungsten bead nymph and a small zebra midge or midge emerger is what I would use, as well as my go to rig taking clients on valley. Sometimes olive or tan work better then a black zebra, when it’s cloudy a normal zebra midge will work, but after 10-20 mins of sunlight I throw the emerger as a trailer. Tight lines
