I finally got out for the first time in 2010. Valley in the park was running quite full, but clear for a limestoner. I did not measure the water temperature, but when I fell in I estimated it to be in the high 40s' - low 50's. Not much hatching. Most people were catching fish on nymphs and many were fishing 16-18 bead head pheasant tailed nymphs. I am teaching myself to nymph and was quite pleased to catch two small browns. Later in the morning I saw some trout rising but, could not figure out what they were taking. I had a bunch of short takes on a 16 thorax tied adams.

When I dry out my stuff, I hope to get out again.

most likely they were taking blue wings especially if you had some takes on the adams, I was there yesterday and picked up nine on a BHPT, unfortunately none were bigger than 6 inches but a good day none the less
 
Fished Valley Creek today as well. Caught my first PA trout! Ended up with 5 by the end of the day. Found that most of the fish were in the deep runs on the outside of bends in the stream. Fished nymphs deep in these areas. Saw some fish rising and lots of flies in the air but didnt take any on dries.
 
Fished it today for a couple hours. Caught two on top and two nymphing... all 5inches or less, but I did miss two 10 inchers on a BW. Saw one caddis today and a couple different fish were literally jumping out of the water after it. Good stuff.

On a side note, I watched 3 male mallards attack a male and female feeding in the stream well upstream of me. They caused such a ruckus and were so intent on fighting/breeding I had to move out of the stream to aviod getting mauled as the bunch floated downstream taking branches and all with them. I felt bad for the female... thought they were going to drown her. Didn't know ducks could be so aggressive.

too funny. I'll have to check it out now that the weather warmed and skimpy outfits are flying...
 
If my commute through villanova is any indication, the skank hatch is in full swing. The skimpy joggers are steady as well. I expect a full emergence of sunbathers within a few weeks. Enjoy it.
