Fished from 0830 to 1430. Air temperature was about 45 when I started, and got up to low 60s by the time I knocked off. I did not get a stream temperature. According to USGS site, flows were 35-40 cfs, when the creek normally flows around 20 cfs. The water color was slightly cloudy given the recent rain, but it wasn't too far off the normal clear color.
I was successful using a tandem nymph rig with a BH Hare's Ear, and a BH black zebra midge dropped below it. Took a few fish on the zebra midge, which is no surprise for Valley Creek. I did try out a small black streamer in some of the deeper pools as well as a dry-dropper rig in the flats and slow riffles with no success on those. The link below is of some of the fish I caught today.
Overall it was a beautiful day to be out, and there weren't too many other anglers on the section of stream that I fished. Can't wait for the dry fly fishing to pick up out there!
