Valley Creek, Chester Co - 2/7/2016

We got on the water around 11 or so and we saw fish coming up till maybe 2 or so. We saw most of the rising fish below the iron bridge but some above. I think they were more keyed in on inside the film and below then on top. For hatches we had BWO coming off till 230 then the midges starting till we left at 5. It was not heavy at all but enough to get the fish looking up.

I fished Valley Creek today from 10:30 to 2:00. I fished from the arched walking bridge in the park, up to Bradford Rd. It was drizzling the whole time, and felt very raw. I saw very few rising fish, so I spent the entire time fishing a black bead head zebra midge tied on a small jig hook. I ended up hooking between 12-15 fish. The recent rain brought the water up a bit, but it already has cleared up.

That dam pool is dam tough, but there are dam fish in it, it's just dam slow.

Fished Valley Creek below the covered bridge on 3/22. Water 54 and Clear. Lots of bugs coming off the water. Looked to be mainly BWO and something lighter. Picked up two. One on a 22 BWO and the other on a orange scud. Nice day to be out.

Fished up in the Malvern area on Tuesday 3/29 from about 9 to 12. Air was 47 when I arrived, but the water temp was 51 in high sun and gusty winds. Not much bug life active early, and the wind was having its way with my 3 wt line. I did get 4 or 5 on an 18 pt soft hackle, and I ended the excursion bringing 3 "good" fish to hand cheating with an sj worm and targeting the jams and undercut banks on my way back to the car. Unexpectedly good on a bluebird, post-cold front day.
