Fished Valley Creek for about an hour (10:30AM-11:30PM) Monday. Air temperature was in the high 20's and I would guess the water temperature to be somewhere in the high 30's. Caught one nice brown trout on a variation of a size 20 black beauty midge pattern I tied. This fly was fished on 7x tippet 10" behind a size 16 olive beaded scud. The take was very subtle, only a slight hesitation in the drift of the indicator tipped me to the take. I did not see any fish feeding on the surface nor did I see any insects coming off the water. The attached picture was taken with my cell phone. I apologize for the poor picture quality. I wanted to get the fish out of the net ASAP and did not want to provide any unnecessary stress with the air temperature being as cold as it was.
