Nice. I was out there on the 8th and got close to a dozen, mostly dinks, on zebra midges. Culled through a lot of chubs in the wintering holes too....

"A lot" of chubs in a wild trout stream is suggestive of warmer than desired water temps during the summer. It used to be that Valley was pretty warm during the summer above RT 29. I don't know whether or not that situation has improved since the 1980's, so if you were fishing up that way chubs would be expected if the stream has improved up there enough to support trout yet still has some moderately warm spells. If those fish were caught well downstream, then my first sentence may be cautionary with respect to the future.
I would add that when I first saw the BT photo my immediate reaction was that you were holding a trout that was skinny from a warm summer. Note the thin caudal peduncle. Then I read the narrative about the abundance of creek chubs and that was also suggestive of a developing chronic or chronic temp problem.
