Valley Creek 3/13/08

Got to VC and started fishing around 1:30pm. Started two pools above the metal bridge and only fished one other pool. Caught two small browns on #18 bead head pheasant tail nymphs and then caught four browns on BWOs #14-16. The water was still a little high and fast, but it was clear. Weather was mostly sunny with air temps in the 50s.

Around 2pm there was a fairly good BWO hatch that lasted until about 4pm. The fish were really active on top, especially in one pool I fished.

There were two other fisherman out, WAS IT ANYONE FROM THIS BOARD?

I was fishing VC but not near the park. I was fishing a little further upstream were the stream is really tiny.

I caught 2 small browns on #18 Zebra Midge. I caught one nice brown (11") yesterday on #18 BH Flashback Pheasant Tail. Only fished an hour or so each day after work.

I never fished VC before. It's a nice scenic little stream. Oh yea, if you want to see exaclty where I was fishing check along the north bank. I decorated some of the trees and bushes with tiny BH ornaments and mono tinsel.

Water temp was 51 and air 48 for those who keep records.

If you saw a gray outline of a person fishing the riffles, it was me. I was there in spirit. Stupid work.

Oh well, I leave for shenandoah at 6:30 tomorrow.

I'll be fishing valley a good bit in the coming weeks. I'm in my 20s and I'm a lefty. That's usually enough info to pick me out, so stop by and BS.

Have a good trip to Shenandoah. I love that place, used to fish there when I was living in DC/northern VA.


I am also in my 20's (but not for long), I am also a lefty, and I ALWAYS wear a Boston Red Sox hat.

Do you drive a black vw ? or was it a Saturn because I was there a week ago and I remember a guy with a hat pull in behind me by the bridge , Oh I drive a silver civic :-D

i got the vw but hopefully that'll change soon - tried to get there today but probably hit it sunday in the morning with the wet snow episode and wind - today sure would have been nice

Fished Valley 3/16/2008. Started around 1:00 pm and fished till about 4:00pm. Only worked a small section of the section of the stream above the covered bridge. Ended up catching 3 and missed a few others. All on parachute BWO size 18. Actual BWOs started coming off around 1:30. Caught most in a little faster water.
