Hey guys this past weekend I fished Valley Creek despite the cold the fish were still active and feeding.

On Saturday 12/30/17 I fished from about 2:00pm to 4:30pm:
Temp: Upper 20s
Water temp: 35 degrees
Weather: Cloudy

Had several hits, ended up landing 2 fish, lost 1. Largest being 8”-10”. Fished riffles, holes, etc. All caught on size 20 black zebra midge.

On Sunday 12/31/2017 I fished from 3:00pm to 4:30pm
Temp: 18 degrees (high)
Water Temp: 35 degrees
Weather: Cloudy, windy

Two hookups, two fish both on the size 20 black zebra midge. The fish sizes were 10” and 7”.

Thanks,
Tom

Nice report... if you don’t mind me asking were you inside or outside if the park?

Outside the park, I like to start park at that parking lot on Wilson Road though. There was some ice on the stream in some slower portions, so be careful if you do go out. I’m sure there is more ice with how cold it has been.

I would be hungry too after having sex for the last month!! The last active redds I saw (more than a couple) were in the second week of December.

Did you fish on a nymph rig or dry dropper?

Great report and Pic @tjsingle. Cool seeing the trout with the snow back ground.

I am going to try and hit the stream by the end of the week.

Bring an auger. This is from today at Bradford Rd.

I am not surprised based on how cold it’s been. When I went there was some ice on the banks

It was clear of ice for the most part on Wednesday, but cold and gray brown. I walked looking for risers for a bit, but it was mostly for the walk. The only highlight was spooking an 8 point buck with about 6 does.
