I fished Valley from 300-530 in the park. I seen some rises by the big tree past the bridge to nowhere so I tried on a size 20 bwo I fished that for a while with no takes so I took out my serine and did some skiming and found alot of midges but instead of midges I decided to whip out old faithfull a gold conehead black wooly bugger I usually fish a size 8 but I know that the fish there are smaller than the stockies I have fished for at Ridley so I tied on a size 10. So Bam on my second cast I caught a 10" brownie . I was so excited that my hands were shaking it was my first wild trout and I caught it on Valley Creek and it was only my second time there... :-D

Congratulations Fredrick! Sounds like you had a nice day out.

I've been working on my bugger technique this spring. Even the fish you miss are exciting because you can feel the take.

Fred,

You diid it....Great job! I'm not surprised, you're one of a "few good men." Sorry I couldn't join you I'm working today (Saturday).

With the rain Valley, and most other creeks, will be higher and off color. Don't let that stop you from fishing if the water is at a fishable level. Keep trying your smaller buggers, and try both dead drifting and stripping. BH nymphs should also work.
The fish at Valley are often easier to fool under higher flow conditions.

I'll give you a call...good luck.

ps. Check the streamflow before you go - link below:
