Once again floated from Shehawken to Buckingham, starting around noon and coming off the water at dusk (8:25 or so?). There were a good number of boats, but there again was plenty of room and opportunity to find fish. The water was at pretty ideal levels for both drifting and wading and had good clarity.
We saw the occasional Hendrickson, but they are fast on the way out in the lower reaches of the WB and upper Main. A few apple caddis, even a few blue quills, some of the little chimarra (black) caddis, some medium-size black/brown stoneflies, what looked to be the occasional sulfur, some tan caddis, a few big March Browns, and a fair number of Gray Fox, as well. There were also the big BWOs in spots.
Heads were sporadic at best until around 6pm. I caught a decent rainbow (15", maybe) in the braid on a nymph, and then went until late in the day until I caught another fish, a small brown that hit a March Brown emerger. I caught another huge fallfish, as well. Once again, towards the very end of the day at Buckingham, I hooked a beast (although not quite as beastly as the two from last Thursday) on the March Brown emerger, and after showing me my backing, he pulled free.
The hatches weren't great, but the fishing could be had if you were persistent. It was a beautiful day on the water, and it's hard to complain going 2-for-3 on that river when the fish just "aren't that into you". We bumped into Krayfish while up there and (I'm pretty sure) watched them (from about 200 yards away) land a fish above the last good riffles before Buckingham. A good day any way you slice it.
