Thanks, Dave. It may take a couple days to write up today's adventure, which was my first 13-hour tour of 2026 and began with some American shad on the "sin stick" this morning.

Shout out to @lars for putting me on my first shad in decades (and breakfast, which was the least he could do after kicking my butt) 😉

Thank you, sir. Only 1 on top yesterday. Enough grannoms for me to take the time to rerig, but not enough to see more than two or three risers showing interest. Most fish did take the dropper tag up higher in the water column, however. Nothing on the swing....

Grannoms were all over the stream I fished yesterday evening. They were very thick at times. I only saw one fish eat on top, however, and it only came up one time. A nice wild brown of about 18" totally exited the water about 15 feet in front of me, and I saw the entire fish. The fish just weren't all that willing to eat the grannoms.

I caught several on nymphs down deep, however, with a Prince Nymph getting the job done.

I don't love that I have to target bigger cricks I keep in my back pocket for late May and June, but I am still catching fish by altering my expectations and approaches. I hope I am not out of options when the late season arrives.

This Monday, the stocker bows were gorging on emerging tan caddis midday in NEPA. The wild fish did not care so much. But I did score a couple good browns fishing deep with big bugs, like a size 10 tungsten pheasant tail under a bobber....
