Tulpehocken Creek, Berks County, 7/13/10

I was rained out halfway through my round of 18 so I decided to try my luck on the Tully. I pretty much had the entire creek to myself so with a reccommendation from JayL I decided to stop in at the Papermill hole. I was in the creek by 6:45 and almost pee'd my pants when a couple of 30" carp blew up in front of me. I fished the confluence for about an hour and nothing happend changed flies a few times but nothing. Then around 7:45 I caught lightnening in a bottle and for about half hour I would be getting hits every other cast. I ended up landing 5, 3 on a size 18 BH HE and 2 on a size 18 olive FB Scud. all in all a good evening in the rain.

Good to see there's a little evening action going on there. See much in the way of bugs or was it fairly quiet? You should have gotten one of those carp on the line. That would have made for an interesting evening.

I played at Willow Hollow about 5 minutes away from the creek. I quit because lightening and golf clubs do not work well together. As for bugs there were fish rising but it was rather sporadic. The bugs on the water did not seem too plentiful unless they were smaller than my eyes could identify and since i didnt have my glasses on it is possible.

i tried for one of the carp for a little while but he seemd disinterested. What kind of flies would you use for those carp? Globugs?

glo bugs, little crayfish or little streamer flies. Get something out in front of them and let in get snagged on the bottom. They're nosy and will come over and pick it up. I caught one in there once that had to be 8-10 lbs on a 3wt and a caddis dry. They were up slurping them off of the top and I took a stab and hooked up. I thought he was going to break my rod.

Thanks for the report. I havent fished the tully since early june, the flow has been really low but hopefully the rain should help out. Sometimes I fish for the carp exclusively when the trout fishing is slow. I tie a size 10 hare's ear nymph and sight fish them. Here's a picture of one of the carp I got:

and sometimes you can get them on dry flies when theyre on top.

LL, I caught a brown this morning on a green honeybug but alas no green weenie in his eye.

I am aware I traded one lightening rod for a longer one however once its started lightening I went to the clubhouse and had several beers untill the lightening subsided

GREAT IDEA! Trico hatch followed up by golf outing. Set it up since you started. BTW, your idea means that you get to do a beer / hole. Tried it once... crawled to 10 tee and waived the white flag.
