Tricos in the AM, I'm gonna guess caddis and midges the rest of the day ;-)

Its the Tully. You know what works!

If you guys don't check already, www.tcoflyfishing.com has stream reports as well as the current USGS chart. I would suggest reading it, especially as the summer gets going. They do a good job (in my opinion) of keeping an eye on the water temps and letting you know when its time to give the fish a break.

I was there yesterday late morning into early afternoon. Water was up and a little off color. Sporadic risers in the flats and on the edges of the faster water. Caddis dries and caddis emergers mixed with midges were successful. I may be there this evening for a few hours til dark.

the guy who normally does the stream reports for the Tully is in Alaska for a week or two.

nothing has changed in the last week. flows are tree fiddy, fish are eating caddis.

Is 350 fishable? Glad to hear they are still eating caddis, i love caddis fishing, i Have caught more fish caddis fishing than anything else by far! Cdc caddis is my favorite fly ever for that reason

Heck yeah 350 is fishable. Basically perfect for the Tully. Like the other guys said, you can never go wrong with da caddis. Grey and Tan are prime right now - some bigger one's too - like 14-16s. 18s are mixed in but nothing smaller. Midges are a constant. Monday there were tricos very early and I caught a few on male spinners but they were pretty sparse.

Ned, check out the 'tully midges' thread in the stream locations forum, lots of good infO on the midges in there

MrChunk, i found they only wanted the larger caddis also, my fishing partner that day i was there had a smaller size on at first and didnt get any success until i switched him over to one of the bigger size caddis i had...i love it when they smack those big caddis on top, tons o fun

Hit the Tully about 7 am today, sunny water about 67 degrees when I checked it at 1030, guides out with sports, great day. AS usual (for me) tough morning on the flats - sporadic rising, 16-18 caddis on the water very slight, 28 or 30 black midge, even might be a black fly, tricos 24s, but very few, water brownish and feeling a little high. Threw everythng, to no avail. Guy walks in above me around 9 am tosses in "one of Jeff's worms" and starts hammering them 5 or 6 in no time including one enormous rainbow. After a while and a couple smallmouths i headed down to the riffles just below the flats ready to list all my stuff on eBay and threw in a hot pink collared BH PT and baddabing the biggest rainbow I think I've ever caught, didn't fit in the net until it bent double and still the tail hanging out. Scarlet stripe, bronze head, every bit of 22 inches. Not kidding. Not a particularly tough fighter tho.
Couple more casts decided it wasn't getting any better that day. Woulda paid $10 for one Jeff's Worm.

Last time I was at the Tully in mid may we fished the water works and I have never landed so many fish. They were taking everything from caddis to streamers. Great stream!

I had a really good day there in May as well. I caught well into the teens in a couple hours and most fish were over 15". It was by far the best day I have had on the Tully. I was fortunate to have this happen, because I had gotten skunked on my 2 previous outings there.

I was also out Monday morning from about 6:30 - 9:30. The water was 64* at 7 AM. The fish were on the Trico's pretty hard. I was able to get a bunch with a size 24 Trico spinner, but I missed more than I caught. After things slowed down on top, I went under with a weighted Caddis and Prince dropper, trying my hand at a little tight-lining. I was able to get a couple more including this pretty pig.
