Fished above the Bridge to Nowhere from about 8:30-9:30 AM and caught one healthy brown about 12" on a 16 BHPT. I missed a couple of others as I did not have any indicators left and was too slow to set off of watching the line. Water was high and milky due to last night's rain. Air temp low 70's with cloud cover. Caddis were coming off and there were sporadic rises for emergers.

Then I went up above Reber's in the flats and did extremely well from 10-Noon. Water was lower and clearer than below Cacoosing, although still a bit murky. Caddis were coming off consistently and in greater numbers than downstream. I landed the better part of a dozen trout and had strikes for a half dozen more all on 16-18 CDC emerald caddis dries with grayish wings. I was using 6X tippet and had two larger trout break me off at different times while I was bringing them in. Mostly rainbows with a couple of browns mixed in.

It was one of those mornings where it just seemed to click and I guess, this was 'in the zone'; at least for a couple of hours. For instance, I would take a break, put on a fresh fly, and first cast would land a fish. This happened twice. And all of this action took place within 30 yards top to bottom.

I hope other average flyers like myself get to have a morning like this real soon. It makes the skunkings worthwhile...I think. :-D

glad to hear it,,5 - 6 years ago it was like that all the time soon as caddis showed up on the water. but for the past few years caddis have not really been what they used to be, im glad to see them comming back a little stronger. it was nothing to catch 20 fish in 2 or 3 hours . i hope the tully tu makes some good improvements to the stream, i heard on the radio that a million and some odd dollars were given to use on the tully and making improvements. i hope they use it on the stream and not fricken benches and grills and crap like that at the stilling basin where all the damn poachers like to hang out. i have the wardens number in my phone and intend on using it whenever i see poachers there at the tully. im not even warning them anymore im just gonna call,,
congrats on a good day on the stream

Good reminder jfetkin. Did Tully TU apply and receive money from the grant to make improvements/enhancements on the Tully? What project is planned?
