Truthfully, much of the stream is poor habitat, but there are a few good spots.
The road to nowhere section, papermill, refrigerator hole, and palisades are all that I've found so far that are actually decent habitat, though with current stocking practices habitat doesn't always equate with where the fish were put in. I hate flat water, and 90% of the Tully is flat water.
The upper section has muskies, catfish, bass, and stripers. Thought I saw a walleye once, but could have been mistaken. I've caught only trout, suckers, carp, and bass though. The heron factor is huge, I've never seen more of them than on the Tully, I see several every time I'm there. I wasn't around for the fingerling years. The thing about the stream that I hate, and I'm sure its due to adult stocking, is that the fish are not spread out at all. You fish a mile of stream catching maybe an odd fish here and there. Then you get near an access or stocking point, and there's tons of guys. If you push your way in, you're within 50-100 yards of someone, and yeah, you pick up fish like crazy, but I was never much for combat fishing. I'd rather catch 1 or 2 and not have a guy in sight.
