I looked at Cacoosing Creek on satellite images on AcmeMapper and noticed a huge cleared development area next to the stream, with not much buffer.

Does anyone know what will be built there?

Regarding the dam. If it is blocking fish passage, maybe some "selective deconstruction" could allow fish passage, but not eliminate the grade control, so not endanger the pipe.

I think that might be a viable option for a lot of dams, i.e. partial removal may be better than total removal in many cases.

There is a housing development going in there Troutbert.

The development is a retirement community. The developer happens to a very responsible person and wants the dam out as well. He has set aside a lot of the land for conservation and it will not be developed.

I grew up fishing the Cacoosing, it had wild browns back in the 70's.

I could be wrong but I think all of it is posted. Regardless of posted signs or not once they knock that dam out I think it's potential as a great nursery water is there. Hopefully the PFBC will allow that to happen. Seems a bit odd to change the regulations to fishing practices that will be even more detrimental to trout surviving when there is something in the works (dam removal) that could potentially help some wild trout along. Once they knock that dam out if the harvest regs and bait regs are enacted on the Tully you can put money on the water right around Cacoosing becoming a real popular spot with guys looking to harvest fish.

I've heard there are wild rainbows in Plum however there is also a sewage plant up there so if you decide to try it wear a respirator and don't wet wade!
