Flow has gradually been declining and one needed to be selective in finding habitat to fish that was most likely to be productive, particularly for larger fish. Water temp was good, however, at 62 deg F. This was slightly surprising in that I was over 4 mi downstream from Blue Marsh. Nymphed from 9:15-11:30 using pheasant tail and two homemade attractors. First hole produced 6 trout, four of which were landed. One was a 14 inch BT holdover; another was a 12 in RT; and the remaining fish were 16-17 in long. The two larger fish landed were recently stocked 16-17 in. BT and the ones that took to the air, escaping after good battles, were chunky BT and RT. Moving downstream into smaller trout habitat I picked up three more normal stockies...2 BT, 1 RT. Saw only two fish rise and had a great blue heron insisting that I should give him one of the fish as I landed it. He flew in for a close inspection and squawked in disgust as I released it. Obviously not a C&R bird.

Great summary and love the quips! Very funny! Does the Tully get any sulphurs or march browns? I usually only fish it in the winter due to the constant pressure it gets year round. But this year I was thinking about trying it in the evening if it has sulphurs or march browns (my dry box is very limited). Thanks for posting the report!
I have never heard March Browns mentioned for the Tully, but I used to fish a sulphur hatch around Memorial Day or slightly before and I did see some early size 12 sulphurs 2 wks ago. Probably someone else will answer your question better than I can.
