Nymphed the bait area in the 2 mile stretch below the DH Area this AM for 75 minutes. Used a combination BH wine colored nymph followed in tandem by an SJ worm. Caught 4 stocked BT, 2 holdover RT, and a wild BT. Two were on the SJ worm; the rest were on the nymph. Water was slightly cloudy and 66 degrees. A light number of caddis were flying about and a few fish were rising.

Thanks for the report. I've been fishing the caddis around Rebers bridge earlier this week in the evenings with much success. The fish are very tough however, i have been using 7x tippet and have been getting many, many refusals. It shouldn't be long before the tiny tricos are on.

In my limited knowledge of the area, only having lived here for 2 years, "The Road To Nowhere" is 222, not Van Reed Road.

They've really improved traffic flow around Reading with connecting 222 from Lancaster County. I remember many trips up that way having to cut across 724 through Sinking Spring, etc.

I was told that "Road To Nowhere" got its name because about 35 or so years ago the road was being built and lost funding and construction simply stop, thus the road went nowhere. Around 8 years or so ago they started up work again, turning it is into what we have now.
wgmiller, I agree, that cut through Sinking Spring was better than the alternative, which was just awful.
The Road to Nowhere was built in the 60's, and for decades it went nowhere. Even people from out of state knew it as the Road to Nowhere. 40 some years later they finally finished the connection around Reading to complete 222 as a 4 lane highway.
When I was a teenager, some of my friends used to jump off the bridge into the Schuylkill River. I was dumb, but not that stupid.

I hardly ever get down that way (I am in Exeter) but when I drove down to Adamstown the other day I noticed a lot of very promising looking water. I have been meaning to look some of them up. Are they on the A list?

Not sure if you can see any class A water from the road. There is class A water in the area, and some tribs of the streams you see certainly are.
I don't have a link handy, but the interactive wild trout google map might have to come out when I get home.
Don't forget that Stoudts is in Adamstown!

Oh, I never forget that. A little further down the road in Reamstown, is the relatively new Union Barrel Works. A great little brew pub with good beer and good food. Little more casual and a lot less expensive than Stoudts.

I did notice a lil trickle just south of 222 running next to Van Reed may be a good starting point for ya jdaddy

Well, I live in the area, moved here since it was completed but I fully understood why they call it the road to nowhere. I live on 183 very near the airport (Spatz field).
As for the lil trickle, are you talking about Cacoosing?
Yeah, there are some wild trout streams in the area, and some of them are worth the hassle.

Yeah, I used that stretch quite often...it went lots of places...just no where in particular. Its how you got to the airport, from my house it was the best way to sinking spring, there was a night club along 183 we used to go to...I'll think of it...The Silo?...it was how we got to Rt 78 via 183 to go to grammas in Harrisburg...Blue Marsh...back way to Berkshire Mall...We used to write stuff on the RR over pass by the junk yard when we were kids...usually girls names...we were goofy.
