My first ever trip FF for trout was more good than bad. Learned alot managed to hook one nice brown but after some acrobatics he got away. But was a great learning trip for proper drift and whatnot. Also learned I'm setting the hook WAY TO SOFT. Fished around the Papermill.

Congrats! I don't care what anyone says, that stream can be tough.

I started the day with a two nymph rig under a strike indicator that was a sz 18 red zebra midge with gold bead and a little "creation" sz 18 had a few strikes on that till it got stolen by a tree branch. The nice brown (about 14" or so) took a sz 8 olive bugger I tie just drifted under a strike indicator with very gentle action from mending the line but it got eaten at the end of the drift as it started to rise. As long as weather is decent I will be back on sunday

Great stream, great area. That current seam where the Cacoosing(sp?) runs in holds lots of fish and some real hogs. I like to fish that seam an hr before light with a mcfly egg pattern. Usually can pick up some good ones. I like taking kids and first timers there also, there's always fish and its a good place to build confidence for newbies. Its also a great to stand and watch the fish feed, sometimes you think they are gunna jump in your waders. I think i'll go tommorrow. lol

Ya, I may still be at 2,000 cfs tomorrow so watch out!

The confluence of Cacoosing with Tully may soon be a little less productive. The dam on the Cacoosing is being removed which is going to allow the fish to move much further up into that thermal refuge.

Yeah, i dont think im going tommorrow, it just sounded good at the moment. While typing that post it got me thinking about all the good days i had at that spot.

It actually dropped to 150 yesterday and has been stable. Very fishable.

I saw on TCO report that it will go up to 5,000 ? do to rain so not sure its worth it the next few days, could be real dangerous if that flow hits suddenly.

Ya they tend to open the gate rather quickly and you can get stuck. I just went to poachers hole and it was quite off color. Waterworks is still showing 150. Will check clarity later.

I doubt they would release 5,000. That's nuts. 2,000 is a standard high flow dump rate. And that is a crap load of water.

Read that TCO report. Says 5,000 coming IN to Blue Marsh. Still a lot of capacity in the lake thus release does not have to equal input.

Stream is actually VERY low with nice color at Rebers and above. Plum is dumping huge amounts of chocolate milk and Cacoosing is raging as well. If you want to fish Tully tomorrow I would suggest from Rebers up. Oddly, there were literally 16 Hispanic guys spin fishing in the Rebers hole at 4:00 PM today.

Good thing they weren't wearing their fedoras backwards! Seriously though, simply noted a huge number of folks fishing in the river. Spin fishing. Hispanic. Young. Things I noted. Things that were new to me. 16 folks in a 2 person pool, not the Hispanic part. I am in Reading.

No baitcasting nets, but I am sure there will be some Goya corn cans to pick up tomorrow during the stream clean up. Am I right?

Isn't the regs on the Tully artifical lures only ? Also they love to hit the streams when they are high and off color because less eyes on the water to call the WCO and also it is a great time to chuck some worms .

It is not scheduled however American Rivers has it approved so it is all but done.

Yes, there is DHAFLO section on the Tully. Yes, during the stream clean up today we found a boat load of worm containers. Why can't people through those things away?
