Fished the Tully below in section below the covered bridge Saturday, managed to hook 3 and land 2 bows on streamers. The first hit my version of a grey ghost dropped off of a black nosed dace on the swing (not sure which fly it took but I think it was the trailing fly).
The two I landed were on one of my streamer patterns, (basically a white maribou clouser with a black back and peacock hurl lateral line) swung low in the currents breaks close to faster water.
It was cloudy, foggy on my drive, and close to 50 out- I didn't take a water temp, sorry- surprisingly enough there was a hatch of BWOs (tiny, round 22-24) in addition to some black midges (same size) coming off the first couple hours I was there (started around 11:30a). No risers observed. My buddy was nymphing- I imagine some olive patterns, but no takes. I just love hucking some streamers, especially in the winter, so I stuck with that for the day.
I caught my two fish in the same pool right after my buddy moved on (so don't discount good looking water if someone has already fished it without making too much commotion). In the winter, I will typically cast at a likely spot longer than I would in the warmer months before moving on- even with streamers, and it took me a number of swings to get it just right for em.
Anyway, overall a good day for the middle of January. First bow I landed was maybe 12", the second one was a little bigger, shown in the picture.
