Fished the Tully from 6-8 last night. Started below the Paper Mill and caught a couple sub-surface on caddis emergers. Wanted dry action so I headed up to the basin and fished below the dam. Lots of bugs coming off and enticed a couple of aggressive browns on caddis dries. They were about 9-11" and feisty. The Sunny was about 3" and put up a heck of a fight. ;-)

What kind of bugs were coming off? How was the water?

Sorry for not getting more specific on the conditions. I was coming off a marathon Little League game last night, almost 3 hours, and I wanted to get something down before I quit for the night.

Water was higher and faster than I like to see it, don't know the flow rate, but it was clearing and definitely fishable. There were tan & green caddis emerging and the trout were certainly keying in on those. The few trout that were rising to dries, I targeted. This is a personal preference. There were also plenty of midges about. I thought I saw the sporadic sulphur coming off too. I went from a bi-visible to an elk hair emerald caddis and got a strike on the first cast. I was out of the cdc dries which I find greater success with on the Tully so used the elk #16-18.

Thanks jim. The purpose of the Stream Reports is to provide a resource to help other anglers. If the reports are properly titled, then use of the "sort" features organizes the streams properly and someone can read all reports on a particular stream without scrolling through the entire database. Also, the search function becomes more useful. The board host wants me and other moderators to make sure that some helpful information is contained in every report; otherwise, it isn't worth the storage cost of maintaining the report in the database.

I try to urge everyone who wants to use the report forum to post about their trips to read over the stickie threads at the top of the forum. They are simple and staight-forward and it is a lot easier to have the initial report comply than to have moderators going back and editing or deleting non-conforming threads.

If you just want to tell about an outing or ask questions, use the Stream Locations forum or the General Forum.

I appreciate your adding the information and encourage you to keep on posting.
