Hi, All.

Our 28th Annual Pine Creek Trout Trip is this upcoming week. A couple of us are headed up early (Friday through Sunday) as they want to fish the Upper Pine Creek Trout Tournament. I'm not into the tournament scene, so I'm wondering if you could point me toward other area streams. I'm thinking about Kettle Creek, but I've never fished there before. Any advice on where to fish Kettle would be appreciated. I primarily nymph, but love it when there is a hatch on as well!

Are there any other creeks up near Pine (within an hour or a little more) that I should be looking at? I'd like to stay away from blue liners and the more adventurous streams, as I'll most likely be alone.

I hate posting this online, but I'm not really plugged-in up there. My son just moved to Wellsboro, so I'm sure he will be learning by the day.

Pretty hard to find a bad place to fish on Kettle creek.
Fishing dry only, I really like the large pools on the lower part of the creek just above the lake

Leidy bridge always has fish rising to something this time of year.
And if you drive upstream along the dirt road on the far side of the creek, there are several more sizable pools that are really nice too.
Can definitely keep yourself busy for a whole day just in that area
 
Depending on where you're staying, Little Pine (between Waterville and English Center) is worth a try. It's our go-to when the big creek is blown out. The delayed harvest section starts at the lake inlet and goes upstream a few miles. We usually park across the road from the gun range and go up or down stream from there.
 
Thanks for the replies. Sorry, forgot to mention that I will be staying on Pine Creek in Gaines, above the canyon.
 
There are so many great streams in that area it's hard to go wrong. Kettle is a great stream with tons of access - you can pretty much just drive along 144 / Kettle Creek Road, find a nice pull-off, and start fishing. Leidy, Cross Fork, and Ole Pull are some of the more well-known places to fish. A general rule of thumb is the higher up you go, the more wild fish you'll find.

Little Pine and Young Woman's also might be close by and are great options as well. Little Pine has a nice delayed harvest section in Little Pine state park. Young Woman's has a good mix of stocked and wild trout and runs largely through state forest land and is parallelled by a road.

Ah, Young Woman's... A few friends have mentioned that one to me over the years, but I forgot all about it until you mentioned it. Thanks for refreshing my memory!

Yeah. Im talking about the lower stocked areas and the destination creeks in general. I just know of other areas on those creeks that arent as hammered as i used to stock those areas lol
 
If you happen to come across one of these while you are up there, you are in the right spot. Just walk a little bit further and you will run into the good fishing.
