Fished from 1:00pm – 4:00pm along Lake Trail between route 18 and the lake. Water was low and clear. Air temp was 67 when I left the house at 12:30pm and it was overcast with a drizzle the entire time. Stream temp felt cooler than the air but I forgot to pack my thermometer.
Started at the last riffles before the stream enters the lake. Caught small largemouth and sunfish in the deeper holes with #14 3xl buggers and san juan worms. At around 2:00pm I noticed a mayfly hatch in the riffles. They looked like a #16 with long tails and grayish in flight. Tried a #16 adams with strikes from chubs, sunfish, and a dragonfly.
At 2:30pm I noticed a guy wading upstream wearing a bright yellow raincoat, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Don’t know why he was wearing the raincoat, he was soaked from the knees down. He and a friend took a canoe up the backwaters. The funny thing he said, “I caught what I think is a trout.” I responded, “Good luck on your foot fungus” and he walked away.
I did not see any trout. Last stocking for the stream and lake was 5/14/09 and the lake will be stocked 10/1/09.
