Time Fished: 115pm - 220pm
Weather Conditions: Sunny, 80
degrees
Water Conditions: 311 cfs, Nice flow and nice color, 63 degrees
Insects: Caddis were around despite the high temps.
Midday was my first opportunity to fish so I took a chance in poor conditions. The spot I wanted to fish was occupied so I drove elsewhere. I ended up on a stretch I had not fished for many years. I had no luck during the heat of the day with cloudless skies.
I tried swinging 2 wets and casting a streamer. I never had a strike and did not see anyone else have a strike. I was the first one in this stretch but by the time I left, 7 other people came.
2 items of interest. I saw about a 27-28 inch muskie. I did not cast to it. It was in knee deep water. Secondly, I saw a bunch of what I thought were purple martins since they constructed nests of mud. Swallows seem to be cavity nesters. There were 3 spots on the bridge where concrete and plastic pipe touched and that is where the nests were.
