I can't believe that my 76 year old butt ain't been on the stream yet. I know that it's going to rain a bunch Saturday. I'm planning on looking for some small creeks in the Poconos Sunday. Is this going to be a bad move? Send me a PM if you prefer.

Call me hopeful!

The small Pocono streams should be okay this weekend. They have downgraded the original rain amounts. Good luck if you go.

Going to be there Tuesday-Friday next week, so also hoping for some decent rainfall before then.
Dear KMS,

Bring a rain jacket. It's supposed to rain or have at least a moderate chance of rain from Tuesday to Friday of next week. That may screw up our planned float on the Susquehanna scheduled for next Saturday, but we'll see what happens.

Regards,

Tim Murphy 🙂

Always do, but thx for the heads up.👍

So I fished that Pocono stream Sunday. It’s a small class A freestone creek with mixed gradients. This creek does not fish well if someone gets there ahead of me. Left beautiful South Jersey at 4:20 am. When I got there I realized that I could have gotten another half hour of sleep as the parking lot was empty and I didn’t see anyone else the whole day. Arrived at about 7:10. The air temperature we 38. Water temperature about 46. Weather was mostly clear with occasional overcast. Sun felt great. The fish were active. I fished 2 nymphs, dry/dropper, indicator and dry flies. I caught fish on every method. No evidence of a hatch but sporadic bugs in the air. Only saw one rise. The takes on the dry flies were savage. I’m guessing emergers. 6 fish from the same pool that I never had a fish from previously. I’ve fished this Creek on numerous times but never had the success that I had today. Close to 20 wild invaders of European descent. Strange that all of the browns were very similar in color. I don’t remember that from my past experience

I forgot to post a picture of the beautifully colored trout. They were all this dark.

I think that's the case with most small Class A freestone streams. Good on you for getting there at first light, that's the best way to avoid someone getting ahead of you.

Awesome. I know a couple Pocono creeks where they get that dark. Very cool!

I did not get that far north on Sunday, but I had a similar morning. I probably caught over 2 dozen wild browns from a Class A creek between 7 and 11 AM. They were like, Cold? Nah, we are hungry.
