Met a friend a little after 5PM. near the Paper Mill. I went a couple of hrs. earlier, and fished the fast water downstream. Air was about 70, and sunny. The flow was 248, so it was kicking in the fast stretches. A BH caddis pupa was just the ticket for a bunch of feisty rainbows and a couple of browns. It was crowded, but the fishermen were mostly courteous, much to my surprise. By the time my buddy arrived there were fish rising. Took a couple on top, but was nailing them with a Sulpher nymph under a Parachute dry. Ended up with another dozen on the rise and missed at least that many, likely more. Decent Sulpher hatch, with caddis and midges, too. Lots of bugs, lots of fish; a real nice day on Memorial Day weekend.

I had a decent day there today. There weren't many sulphurs, but there were enough to get them to eat one of the feathered hook's beautiful cut wing imitations. Picked up a couple at reber's on sulphur nymphs and tan caddis pupa. I actually handlined my fly to one that was too close for casting.

Moved to the water works and got em on cdc tan caddis and the sulphur dry.

Two of them were pushing 15 inches. Ian also lost a large fish nymphing.

Saw a heron catch, then lose a real nice fish. Made me feel better about the hundreds of refusals and misses.
