I guess thats a problem if you like to pay extra for tungsten. I catch plenty of fish with beadheads and never used tungsten. 1st world problems.

I saw a popup on facebook for this Funky P pattern that looked cool. I click on it and come to find out the company wants 5 bucks a piece for said flies because they have tungsten beads on them. Cool looking fly but not that cool. I've never tied a fly in my life, that was the 1st time i started to consider it

Just use a cheap brass bead and a couple of turns of lead or lead free wire. It will work the same

I personally cringe when I read about someone using lead, whether wire or split shot, in freshwater streams, rivers, and lakes, particularly bodies of water that are part of our drinking water supply. I think there’s a sentence in “Pheasant Tail Simplicity” where Craig Matthews bluntly writes that lead has no place in any responsible freshwater angler’s toolkit. I hope more anglers will move toward using non-toxic wire.

I caught a few fish with unweighted nymphs and split shot and some lightly lead wrapped soft hackles while I was waiting for fish to rise on Saturday. I even had flyline out of my guides and on the water. It can be done.

I remember tying a nymph with a little lead weight sans bead. Honest, it worked.
