If you aren’t already aware, you might also be interested to look up how the reintroduction of grey wolves in Yellowstone in 1995-6 resulted in a better controlled elk population. Elk had been overgrazing the willows, and other trees and shrubs, and once the elk populations were better controlled, more beavers, beaver dams and other ecological benefits resulted.

That particular episode is one of my favorites. But, the "Happy Weekend" episode, where they paid for stocked trout they caught is probably my most favorite. I've seen them all numerous times, but they never get old!

And the stocked trout were "fenced in" so they couldn't escape the confines of "Shadow Lake..."
Up where I live we call that a "kid's trout rodeo."
I like that episode too, but I like it because I get to Barbara Billingsley in jeans... 😛

I'm not positive about jeans, but she did wear pants in the episode "Dance Contest," "Wally's Girl Trouble," "Beaver's Paper Route," and POSSIBLY "Wally's Job" but who would keep track of such things... 😉

Your knowledge of these old shows is impressive. Another one of my favorite shows back in the day was Dennis The Menace, which sadly isn't part of the MeTV lineup. Mister Willlllson... 🙂

I could tell you every episode that Gloria Henry (Alice Mitchell) was in pants, but that would be bragging... 😉
I might listen in on the presentation. I know 3 areas in Ridley Creek with beaver activity, 2 of which seem very healthy. They seem to be the "Bank Beaver” type rather than building dams. but the trees are still gnawed down as usual.

They are in Ridley Creek State Park. I think this might be a beaver caught on trail cam in the park. Or, it might be a fisher? Either way, this was in the park.
The more I look at this pic that a Ridley hunting buddy sent me, the more it looks too slender to be a beaver? But, I don't know how prevalent fishers are in the area either.

This guy was an every evening visitor on one of the Lehigh Valley limestoners about 20 years ago:
He/she used to swim a foot or two in front of me and climb up on the bank behind me every night during the Sulphur hatch. By about the fourth night, it would sit less than 10 feet behind me, munching some vegetation until it got its fill and would swim away in front of me.
I haven't seen one there since...

I only had one run in with a beaver many years ago and it was on Darby creek in havertown along route 3 . Not having experience , the tail slap on the water startled me , I'm not sure what I did but the beaver also broke my ultralight spinning rod swimming away with my bait . ( I swear it was on purpose ) . I never saw any dam activity in the area or any others in the area since , so I'm not sure why it was there .

There was/is a beaver that used to hang out at the Big Bushkill in Monroe County in the FFO area at a big pool below "Little Falls." It would just sit there slapping its tail at me trying to get me to vacate the premises, but I never saw any dam anywhere.
If I thought it would take flies in addition to bait, I might have made a few casts in its direction.... 🙂
