Well sort of. Went to Little Mahoning yesterday. That stream has seen better days. Parked by the big rock hole cuz there is usually someone there and I can rig up while watching others fish and decide how to proceed. I made a few drags through with a bugger and got a couple to chase but figuring this hole gets pounded the way it does, I let the kid who walked up have it and move around the corner. Log on far side is a fish holder but there are no bugs to speak of so I'm just going to switch to searching dry when a big yellow butterfly crash lands at the head of log, gets a 12 inch drift and is engulfed by a big brown. I look down and have an old beat up Stimulator on my drying patch, probaby from last year's WW Jam, tied it on and put it right where the first butterfly landed and boom, he drills it but he just kind of pops it up into the air like seal with a beach ball. This happens again. So I move down to the bottom to cast more parallel to it thinking maybe its a last minute rejection cuz he sees me. First cast out of his site and launches himself out of the water and drowns it on the down swing. I just leave it and another fish eats it just before it disappears under the log. These big yellow butterflies where everywhere. That subsurface take was the only one I got that way but I saw two others on the stream get nom-nom'd by trout.
Creek was very low and thank goodness for AMD. I haven't been wading since last summer and if I had exercised yesterday's wading skill and grace, at say Penns, I surely would have drowned or gone home injured. Only saw the kid and two other guys were very over-equipped. The weather was sure nice though.
