Did I miss something here? Why are you getting incited at this? I took nothing said in this thread as anything but friendly ribbing at worst.

Yes, you missed the first page. I dont call this a gentle ribbing:

“For someone that gets bent out of shape for putting the word "the" in front of Kish should go back and read their novel about fishing in Colorado. Please count how many times you put the word "the" in front of streams, rivers, towns, forests that don't belong there. BTW, I love to fish "The Kish". And that's all I have to say about that.”

IMO Aside from that, most of what's been shared in this thread has been in the name of good fun.
There's been a good bit of creativity in this thread too.

I was thinking about fishing the Jeans in the next week or two. 😉

Not that @jifigz @Swattie87 and all the mods need defending from me or any of us, but I have to say they are much more patient men than me with social media nonsense that creeps into the forum ever so often.

Emojis are a game-changer in some ways, and I try to include them when the intention is gentle ribbing.

I agree with @HopBack that this instance seemed like hostility. I usually take a break from the site when folks aren't fishing and so aren't happy (off their meds). Usually around this time of year.

Oh, and thermometers, boys 😉 I am betting a Kish is getting above 70 everyday....

Kishacoquillis translates to something like" the snakes are already in their dens." So saying The Kish is kind of like a stutter or maybe redundant is the word I'm looking for? Anyway, I've heard many people put the in front of Yellow Breeches, First Fork, Driftwood Branch. I've even heard some older guys from Kane call South Kinzua "$h1t crick". In all cases I understood what was being said. I'm not sure proper Pennglish is really a thing. Maybe more whimsical? There just seems to be better things to have pet peeves about. Whether you use the or not Ill probably get the gist ,if not smile and nod. I have some buddies that tell me where they fished by road numbers and names, towns, ghost towns, rail trails, bars, restraunts, etc. That's okay with me too.

Better yet, what do you think about calling a creek, a crick? I use that all the time.

If anyone is still curious, the wild bow population is doing quite well in Spring Creek. Carry on gentlemen with the proper use of definite articles..😜

Peaked at 67 today (at Kish Park). I haven't seen it over 69 since that wild heat wave a few weeks ago.

I’ve also heard people say “the Pohopoco” and “the Perkiomen.” But not in every case, not as definitive as “the Letort.”

Edit - “the Brandywine” too.

Us locals call it “The Po”
