Tea Creek, 7/15/25

Same with Jean's Run in Carbon County, it's either Jean's or Jean's Run but not "the" Jean's...
I love and respect Jeans Run too much to say I fished "the Jeans". It'll always be, I fished Jeans, or Jeans Run. Anything else is absurd.

FWIW I think it's Jeans, with no apostrophe. I've seen it printed both ways, but I believe Jeans is correct.

They never use the apostrophe on any creek named after someone; for example you'll never see Clark's Creek or Young Woman's Creek...

You did. 🤣 Just messing with ya. 😉

Not surprising...

For some reason, I always put in the apostrophe when writing the name of a creek like Clark's, McMichael's, Cobb's (yup, named after William Cobb) and my home stream, Naylor's Run.

Probably because I'm trying to make up for being such a goof-off in English class in school. 🙂

In that case, from now on, I'm definitely going to be saying:

"I seen a big hatch yesterday on The Penn's."

“When there’s a big hatch you can be sure to have good fishing with a dry fly when you’re on De Pens.”

Probably getting there.

If this all sticks (I hope it does) Squatch gets the OG credit though.

Why isn’t saying The Yellow Breeches like calling The Kettle black?
No one says “ The Yellow Breeches”. Everyone just calls it “Yellow Breeches”. “The” is added only when it’s shortened to “The Breeches”.

Relax a little. I don't care if people put a "the" in front of it. I'm messing around. But I do find it odd because I've never heard anyone say "the Kish" before throughout my life. It's all of you non-Miff Co people.

Back to the CO trip, the only steam I should have put "the" in front of is the White River. None of the rest sound right. But I'm fixing to go count em. I'll be back. 🤪🤪😘
I do think the added “the” is pretty common when addressing creeks. “The Clarion” comes to mind, “The Little J”, “the Slippery Rock”…..

THE Charles K. Fox said The Yellow Breeches.😃

I’m glad you have fond memories of Charlie Fox calling it The Yellow Breeches, but in all of my time fishing the creek (30 years). I have never heard anyone refer to it as THE Yellow Breeches. It seems like whatever Charlie tried to start never caught on.

This is not an attack at you MtFlyfisher but these posts are becoming more like posts on Facebook groups I see everyday. People have no problems letting the arrows fly under the general anonymity of the platform they are using. Otherwise normal people, who would never come out and say the things they do online in their real lives, are spewing garbage, hate, and rhetoric on a regular basis.

I would like to think we are a cut above all of this on the forum but recent developments would suggest otherwise. I find myself frequenting this site less and less because of all of the drama. I’ll admit I got sucked in and started this fight after reading through the comments and becoming a little incited. For that I owe you an apology. I’m trying to keep my mouth shut and not engage in such banter.

Did I miss something here? Why are you getting incited at this? I took nothing said in this thread as anything but friendly ribbing at worst.

Somehow McMichael's Creek escapes this logic, possibly because it is a possessive. I call it and have heard it called McMichael's or McMichael's Creek but never "the" McMichael's or even the McMichael.
Yes, I have noticed that if the crick belonged to someone like Old Man McMicheal or Tom or a Young Woman, the THE is not included.

Just to trigger some of you mitches, I am putting "the" or maybe "a" in front of every creek I don't name on the forum from this point forward 😜
