Canoed from Duke to Fulling Mill Road with a buddy. We caught 8 smallies, about a dozen Rockies and Sunnies, 2 Fallfish (one was real big from fast water), and one walleye. Had to quit fishing at the Hummelstown Middletown RR overpass when we got hit with three inches of rain and didn't fish any farther down.

Found a neat spot where a spring dumps in probably from Indian Echo Caverns. Just seemed to come right out of a pile of rocks. Tons of baitfish and what looked like some kind of fingerlings. Could also see larger fish feeding. Only caught a fallfish from that spot. While the spring was cold it was not ice cold. Still I was hoping for a stray trout! I saw in the spring someone caught a very large brown in the Swatara. I would guess there are some cool seeps with all that limestone.

This was my first float and tons of fun. You get to see so much more than wade fishing. A whole new perspective on the river. I was amazed at the amount of mud pouring in from the small tribs.

I couldn't help but wonder how many fish we were spooking especially with the water so low. Probably should have gotten out of the canoe more to wade fish some of the pools.
