Fished below Columbia last night. Lots of Hex shucks on the water around 9pm but never saw a single dun and we fished until about 11:30pm. Strange. There were many size 16-18 pale yellow/cream mayflies on the water. Some larger rusty spinners that were in the 12-14 range. A lot of 18 beige caddis - the ones with the really long antenna.

Did well on a 16 thorax dun in yellow. The fish were not really selective. Really went to fish the hex but it must be early.

So you were targeting what species of fish?

We weren't really targeting anything in particular other than trying to get fish on top, preferably on a size 8 hex. Last year we got everything from channel cats to smallmouth to sunfish on those hex patterns right before the mass emergence that shut down the 462 bridge.

Neat photo.

Thanks for the report on the Susky. Looking forward to hitting the big river this summer.
